Free Scrappy Quilt Block Patterns

Free Scrappy Quilt Block Patterns

I love finding ways to use up all my fabric scraps…and I especially love a scrappy quilt!

That’s why Lo & Behold Stitchery has hosted a Summer Scrap Bash for the past two summers. It’s so much fun AND a great way to bust through even the biggest scrap pile!

Our 2025 Summer Scrap Bash has ended, but you can still download all four of our FREE scrappy quilt block patterns:

These four patterns make classic scrap-friendly quilt blocks. You can piece your scrappy quilt out of just one of these blocks, or you can mix and match!

I love seeing how you use Lo & Behold patterns. Tag us on social media, @loandbeholdstitchery and use the hashtags #LBSscrappyblocks and #loandbeholdpatterns so I can see your work!

My scrappy block quilts

So far I’ve completely finished up two scrappy quilt projects and sewn up another quilt top with these blocks.

First, I made my Sawtooth Star Quilt. I mixed solids and prints to create a sunshine-y quilt using pinks, purples, and yellows. I loved how it came out, so I knew I had to make another scrappy quilt.

Next, I sewed up my Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt. This project was way bigger (I made 100 blocks!) and used a huge variety of scraps. To finish this extra-special quilt, I used a mix of longarm quilting and hand stitching.

During the 2025 Summer Scrap Bash, I worked on a 16-Patch quilt! I love how the top turned out, but I still have to figure out how to quilt it. I’ll share more about this one soon.

I've loved sewing up these block patterns. Of course, there are other great projects for using up your scraps...

Other free scrappy projects

Did you know I’ve published way more free patterns and tutorials than these four blocks?

Two of my other favorite scrappy quilts have been my Scrappy Cathedral Windows Quilt and my Ombre Puff Quilt. You can get both of those patterns for free too!

And here are some more of my other top projects for using up fabric scraps:

Happy (scrappy) quilting!
