You ABSOLUTELY do! Like with any skill, it's going to take some practice. But I've broken everything down into manageable lessons so you can master each task before moving on to the next. There are tons of videos and written instructions you can easily reference. And I'll be available for questions along the way.

Yes. I learned to quilt on my grandmother’s 50-year-old sewing machine, so you do not need anything fancy to get started. As long as your machine can sew a simple straight stitch and use a walking foot, it should work well for this course. If your machine has not been used in a while, I do recommend having it serviced beforehand to make sure it is in good working order and ready to go.

There is very little prep work required before you begin. Once you enroll, you’ll have immediate access to all of the course material, including the supply list and fabric requirements, so you can see exactly what you’ll need. You will need access to a sewing machine, whether that is one you already own or one you plan to purchase, and Module 1 walks you through both sewing machines and supplies if you’d like guidance before making any purchases.

Not at all, you are right where you need to be.

Inside Beginner Quilting Academy, I walk you through every item you need to make your quilt, so you do not have to figure it out on your own. I also share the brands I love, so you have a clear idea of what to purchase if you need supplies.

In Module 1, I cover the basic supplies you’ll need, along with helpful guidance on choosing a sewing machine. In Module 2, we move into cutting fabric, so you’ll want to have your supplies, fabric, and sewing machine ready by that point.

When it comes to fabric, you can either shop for your own or purchase one of our complete quilt kits by clicking here.

Absolutely. Beginner Quilting Academy is designed to fit into real life, which means you can move through the course at the pace that works best for you. Whether you want to dive in right away or take things one step at a time, you’ll have lifetime access to the course so you can return to the lessons whenever you need them.

We’ll be making my Celtic Crossing quilt in the baby size. It’s a wonderful beginner-friendly pattern that uses simple, straight seams, and I’ve broken the process down into manageable sections so you can work through it step by step with confidence.

If you’d like an easy way to get all of the fabric you need for this course, we offer a limited number of quilt kits on our website, available by clicking here.

Each kit includes the fabric for your quilt top, backing, binding, and batting, so you can get started without having to figure out all of the materials on your own.

If you would rather choose your own fabrics, I also provide the full fabric requirements inside the Orientation module, so you’ll know exactly what to look for.
