Granny Patch Quilt - 70s Velvet inspired
Have you heard that the Granny Patch Quilt pattern is finally in the shop?? I shared about the cover quilt yesterday in this blog post, so be sure to click through and read about that one and all of the pattern details if you haven't yet!

I knew that I wanted an olive mossy green version of the quilt from the very beginning. Think: retro 1970s velvet couch vibes and that's exactly what I wanted! I used AGF Dried Moss for an Heirloom Hearts quilt a little over a year ago (read about it here) and while green is a tricky color for me to sew with, I would say that this shade is quite literally perfect. A hint of brown, a hint of green. Nothing about it is overpowering and I feel like it goes with so many colors. For the Heirloom Hearts quilt, everything else in the quilt had woodsy, muted earthy tones. For this one, we paired it with some teal and pink half yards to brighten it up a bit and try something different.

I used half yards for this version, so I only needed 6 Foreground fabrics for the Large Throw size. So I did 3 shades of pink and 3 shades of teal. We have kits for this exact quilt top in our shop!
- Background: AGF Dried Moss
- Foreground: Kona Jade Green, Pool, Ice Frappe, Punch, Melon, Peach
This combination was a fun one for me! Dried Moss is such a gorgeous, muted and earthy green and the Foreground fabrics feel much more beach-y and tropical. Ultimately, the juxtaposition between the two ended up being SUCH a cool concept and I really love how it turned out. The dark green velvet couch has a little pop of color. :)

I sent this sample to Sara of Stitch Lab quilting. I told her that I wanted something groovy and 1970s inspired. She had so many good ideas for this one, but we landed on Sunrise Skateland 2 by Julie Hirt. If the name itself isn't perfection, I don't know what is!

I told Sara to surprise me with the thread color and she went with such a fun medium/hot pink, which is perfect up against that green. When we got this quilt back from her, Peter immediately claimed it as his. He is OBSESSED with the 70s vibe of this quilt!

For the binding, I used leftover scraps from my half yards. Then for the backing I used a fabric called Soulmate Blooms Flirt, which is an older Art Gallery Fabrics print by Maureen Cracknell. Something about this print feels vintage, and I love how it looks with the front of the quilt. We also have this backing in our shop as well.

We brought this quilt with us to a little getaway a week ago. All of the greenery around the old log cab felt so cozy and fitting for this quilt.
