Homespun Quilt Pattern - The Daydreamer Version

Homespun Quilt Pattern - The Daydreamer Version

We’re gearing up for the Homespun Collective Block of the Month, starting in just a few weeks. While we wait, I wanted to share my second Homespun quilt sample: the Daydreamer version!

The Homespun quilt pattern

The Homespun quilt pattern was designed for (and is exclusive to) Homespun Collective, our 2026 Block of the Month.

I created the pattern to be a skill builder, so I included all kinds of different blocks, from flying geese to snowball…and it gives you the chance to get comfortable with strip piecing, using a scant ¼” seam, and lots of other fun skills. 🤗.

Of course, I didn’t want the quilt pattern to be only a skill-builder…I wanted it to be beautiful! I took inspiration from all things handmade, like knitting, cross stitch, needlepoint, furniture making, and patchwork.

It creates such a warm, cozy-looking quilt…and such a satisfying sew! There’s so much variety in the quilt that you never get bored. I had a blast sewing two Homespun quilts back to back!

And on that note, let’s talk about the new quilt!

My Daydreamer Homespun quilt

For my first Homespun sample (the cover quilt), I leaned into the heritage craft feel with Americana-inspired colors. For my second sample, though, I wanted something more modern, fun, and even surprising…which is how I came up with the Daydreamer version!

FABRICS

My cover quilt used mostly primary colors, so for this version, I wanted to include more secondary and tertiary colors…especially my favorite purples and pinks.

I started off with those pinks and purples, and then I added in some green and bronze fabrics for more contrast and interest. We then threw in some bright greens and corals to give it some flare and unexpectedness.

The Homespun quilt pattern uses 21 different fabrics in all, so I had plenty of room to play with my colors. Here’s what I ended up using in the Daydreamer version (all Art Gallery Fabrics PURE Solids):

  • A- Silk Ribbon
  • B - Coral Reef
  • C - Spruce
  • D - Cherry Lipgloss
  • E - Aurus
  • F - Morning Frost
  • G - Bougainvillea
  • H - Grapefruit
  • I - Rock Candy
  • J - Rosemary
  • K - Evergreen
  • L - Hydrangea
  • M - North Star
  • N - Icicle
  • O - Secret Lagoon
  • P - Cactus Flower
  • Q - Fresh Water
  • R - Golden Bronze
  • S - Blueberry Zest
  • T - Crystal Pink
  • U - Chamomile

Even though these colors were a fun stretch, I still think the finished quilt top has that unmistakably Lo & Behold look to it.

I had so much fun watching this quilt top come together. I love how the pinks and greens mix with the bright accent colors to give this quilt such a different feel from the cover version. And with so many elements and colors in this quilt, switching up the fabrics really changes what you focus on and how your eyes move over the quilt. The longer you look, the more you discover!

So what do you think: do you prefer the Americana or modern take? Either way, you can preorder a quilt kit for your favorite version over in the shop!

QUILTING, BACKING, AND BINDING

With some quilts, I immediately know how I want to quilt them. But for this quilt, I had to think about it a little while. I landed on the Paradoxical panto from Longarm League. This is actually my fourth time using Paradoxical! It’s such a versatile panto that I’ve used it in several other quilts, including Mediterraneo Upscale Plaid, Palette Picks Nightingale, and Autumn Heirloom Hearts.

I love how it looks on this quilt too. The repeating design helps to bring all the different Homespun blocks together, and I like how the varied lines and angles of the panto add depth to the whole quilt without emphasizing any one block too much.

For the backing, I went back to Sharon Holland’s Midsummer collection (for AGF). It’s such a gorgeous collection, and I’ve already used fabrics from this collection in my Sugar Plum Petite Plaid and Miami Sunset Mountain Horizon 2.0 quilts.

This time I went with Delicate Balance Dahlia, which is such a sweet (and yes, delicate!) pink floral. It's nice that it's not so busy that it takes away from the piecing on the front. Like I said, I really went all-in with pink and purple on this one!

I even used a pink for my binding: Cactus Flower, which I used as my fabric P in the quilt top. I initially planned to use Cherry Lipgloss (which is what is included for the binding in the quilt kit) but I really like how this fabric looks around the border of the quilt as well.

I’m just absolutely tickled by everything about this version. It’s a Brittany quilt for sure!

Make your own Homespun Quilt

You still have time to register for the Homespun Collective Block of the Month and make your own Homespun quilt along with me! The sewing starts in February, but our community hub opens next week…so it’s the perfect time to sign up!

QUILT KITS

While you’re signing up for Homespun Collective, you can add a quilt kit. We’ll mail your block fabric each month (and you can choose to add backing and binding too).

You can get the Daydreamer quilt kit, of course, or you can go with the classic-looking Cover colorway, serene blue Lakefront version, or holly jolly Christmas Mint kit.

Quilt kits are going quickly, and we won’t be able to restock them again. So if you want one, get it while you can!

DESIGN YOUR OWN

I just love playing with colors with the Homespun pattern, and I know many of you will too! We’ve put the Homespun quilt on PreQuilt so you can easily color and recolor your quilt…until you find that perfect combination!

I’m getting more and more excited for our Block of the Month as it gets closer. We’re going to have so much fun and learn so many things…and I hope you’ll be a part of it!

In case you missed it…
