A Gift Guide for Quilters
I can't believe that Christmas is around the corner! In preparation for holiday sales, I've put together two gift-guides for quilters! The first one is for beginners. These items are things that I recommend for someone that is just starting their quilting journey.
.
- Universal Needles
- Janome 3160 QDC - This is a great, middle of the road sewing machine. It has several features that I find important in a sewing machine. You can read more about those features in this blog post.
- Mini Iron - If you're just starting out, any iron that you have on-hand will do. If you're looking for a small, light-weight iron that's good for traveling, this one's great! This is my regular size iron and I love it!
- Rotary Cutter
- Seam Ripper
- Straight Pins
- 12" Square Ruler - If you are only going to start out with one ruler, I recommend a 12" square ruler. Then I'd recommend a 6" x 24" ruler.
- Cutting Mat - You could get away with a smaller one, but this size is one that you can grow into.
- Sewing Needles
- Curved Safety Pins
- Small Scissors
- Thread - I like using cones for their unit price, but you could get a smaller spool.
- Gift Cards to a local/online quilt shop! A few of my favorites are Cottoneer, FabricBubb, and Lamb & Loom.
- Lo & Behold Stitchery now offers gift cards that can be found here.
.
Next up is my "Experienced Quilter Gift Guide." If you are looking to treat yourself (or your favorite quilter in your life), here are some ideas!
.
- Suction Cup Ruler Grip
- Janome 6650 - I'm linking this one because it's available on Amazon, but there's really something to be said from purchasing from your local Janome dealer! They can help you hone in on what you really want out of a machine. They might even offer interest-free finance plans, accessories, classes and more. I own the Janome 6700P and LOVE it. The 6650 is pretty similar.
- Daylight Company Floor Lamp
- Stripology Ruler
- Rotating Cutting Mat
- Wool Pressing Mat
- "WALK" Paperback book If you're looking for more books, I have a few others listed on my Amazon list!
- Rowenta Iron
- Ginghar Spring Action Scissors
- Bloc Loc HST Ruler
- Intro to Free Motion Quilting Mini-Course with String & Story
- Hera Marker
- Leather Thimble
- Clips
- DMC Pearl Cotton Thread - Southern Charm Quilts
- Gift Cards to a local/online quilt shop! A few of my favorites are Cottoneer, FabricBubb, and Lamb & Loom.
- Lo & Behold Stitchery now offers gift cards that can be found here.
- Thread Gloss - Ponderosa Creative
- Quilted Pouch for notions - Quilt Queen
